Why we include it
Water (Aqua)
Otherwise known as H20. Commonly used in skincare as a solvent for ingredients that do not like to dissolve in oils but rather in water.
Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice
A great soothing moisturiser and is anti-inflammatory. It also helps heal wounds and boost skin regeneration.
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate
A mild cleansing agent that has water solubility, foams and has great rinse-ability.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
A common surfactant/cleansing ingredient.
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
A surfactant/cleansing agent full of vegetable fatty acids, readily biodegradable and provides a rich foam. It’s also gentle on the skin.
Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate
A sulphate-free, mild cleaning agent that is used mainly as a foam booster and viscosity builder.
Propanediol
Produced sustainably from corn sugar and ECOCERT approved. It improves skin moisturisation and boosts preservative efficacy.
Phenethyl Alcohol
Preservative – a colourless liquid with a rose-like scent used as a masking ingredient. It has antimicrobial activity and can boost the performance of traditional preservatives.
Glycerin
a safe, effective and natural molecule that is skin identical – protects against irritation and dry skin. Glycerin levels correlate with the skin hydration levels.
Caprylhdroxamic Acid
A chelating agent that helps to preserve cosmetic products by neutralising the metal ions in the formula. It acts as a biostatic and fungistatic agent and remains active even at a high PH.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract
Perfuming and skin conditioning.
Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract
Fruit seeds are great for the skin. The darker the fruit, the more grape seed proanthocyanidins (GSPs) and flavonoids it contains.
Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Extract
Skin conditioning.
Silybum Marianum (Milk Thistle) Extract
Plant extract loaded with phytochemical called Silymarin - a great antioxidant and skin soothing.
Pinus Pinaster Bark (Maritime Pine) Extract
A plant extract that contains potent antioxidant molecules – mainly procyanidins and phenolic acids. Loaded with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Ginkgo Biloba Extract
Skin conditioning.
Zeolite
An absorbent and mattifier. These microporous, aluminosilicate minerals are commonly used as commercial drying agents.

Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract
A soothing antioxidant, antimicrobial/antibacterial, astringent. It’s a known vasoconstrictor and promotes healing of broken skin.
Pentylene Glycol
Used mainly as emulsion stabiliser, solvent and broad- spectrum antimicrobial.
Niacinamide
A multi functional ingredient, also known as vitamin B3. Cell communicating ingredient, skin brightening, anti-acne and moisturising.

Methylglucoside Phosphate

Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate
A vitamin C derivative combining ascorbic acid with molecule 3-APPA. Proven to have antioxidant, collagen-boosting and skin brightening abilities.
L-Carnosine
Peptide with antioxidant with wound healing activity.
Adenosine
Anti-inflammatory, skin healing, barrier repair and protection. Proven to help skin collagen production.
L-Cystine
Colourless solution that is antistatic, conditioning agent and potent antioxidant. Said to fight free radicals and slow down skin ageing process.

Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil
Antioxidant and emollient; loaded with nourishing and moisturising essential fatty acids
Cetearyl Alcohol
Multi tasking ingredient. Fatty alcohol that acts as an emollient and controls the viscosity of the formulation. Non drying and non irritating to skin.
Cetearyl Glucoside
A sugar based emulsifier that helps formulations spread easily.
Canola Oil
Emollient, skin conditioning
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
Jojoba oil is an effective moisturiser with dual action – making the skin super soft and supple.
Caprylic/Capric triglycerides
Non greasy emollient that helps make skin feel smooth. Derived from coconut oil and glycerin.
Sorbitol
A moisturiser and humectant - it helps skin to hold onto water. Thickens products and allows more slip on the skin.
Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate
A vegetable based, PEG-Free emulsifier that helps water and oil to mix nicely together. Moisturising and skin softening.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
Shea butter is a moisturiser and emollient. It regenerates and soothes, whilst protecting against UV and wind. It is also rich in antioxidants.

Cetyl Alcohol
A fatty alcohol that works well in skincare. It helps thicken products and helps water and oil to blend.
Panthenol
Known as pro-vitamin B5, it is anti-inflammatory and skin protecting. Its main job in skincare is as a moisturiser. It’s also a humectant, which means it helps the skin to attract water and retain it.
Beta Glucan
A big molecule comprised of many smaller sugar molecules. Shown to have healing properties, moisturising and anti-aging benefits.

A common emollient, emulsifier that helps water and oil to mix together and adds body to creams.
Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid
Low molecular weight version of hyaluronic acid which acts as a moisturiser/humectant.

Honey
One of the oldest skincare ingredients. The bee-derived, supersaturated sugar solution includes proteins, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes and minerals. Moisturising, soothing, antifungal and heals wounds and burns.
Tocopherol
Otherwise known as vitamin E, this is a strong antioxidant that protects skin cells from free radicals - it also has photo-protection properties. It is fat soluble, so skin absorbs it well.
Xanthan Gum
Natural chain of sugar molecules used to thicken formulations.
